Live Rich Habits Training – I Want to Hear From You – Update 3/19/18

Tom Corley boats - crop

Over the years, I’ve received thousands of emails from readers, many clamoring for live Rich Habits training sessions.

Since I completed my Rich Habits study in 2008, my focus has really been to help as many people as possible by getting my research out there through my writing (books/blog), media interviews and speaking engagements.

However, I recognize there is only so much I can cover through those mediums. With the live Rich Habits training, I can cover far more material, in more depth and, thus provide more value to those who are passionate about transforming their lives. Plus, it allows me to meet my readers face to face.

I am, therefore considering conducting a limited number of Rich Habits training sessions, beginning in the summer of 2018.

Preliminary Information:

  • Cost $295 per attendee.
  • Limited to 100 attendees.
  • For 2018, I will probably do four sessions covering the most significant and influential portions of my research.
  • Each session will be about four hours in the morning on a Saturday, somewhere in New Jersey. The first session will likely be sometime in August.
  • Free attendance for individuals who get 3 others to attend. If 3 is too high a bar, please let me know.

If you think you might be interested in attending, please email me at: TOM@RICHHABITS.NET

3/19/18 Update

I received several emails from individuals who wanted to know if they could blast this training email to their contacts in an effort to get friends/contacts/work colleagues to attend. Yes, that would be great. I was thinking along these lines re: invitees:

  • 25% Discount to you if you bring one attendee.
  • 50% Discount to you if you bring two attendees.
  • Free if you bring three attendees.

Let me know your thoughts.

3/14/18 Update

To date, I have received about 60 emails from readers who said they were interested in attending.  Thanks for your email responses. Some of you have indicated that you would prefer a webinar format. That may be a separate platform I adopt in the future. The downside with webinars is the loss of valuable networking opportunities that live, face to face training events provide. The self-made millionaires in my study built strong relationships with other success-minded individuals and that is one of my objectives with the live, face to face training. The relationships, I am certain you will make at the live training events, will be invaluable. They will help move you forward in the pursuit of your dreams, goals, future success and in building your wealth.

I will continue to run this post over the next few months. Hopefully, we can get 100 confirmations, in which case I will move forward with the training in 2018. It would be nice to get to meet my readers face to face. Hope to hear from you.

Only 4% of Poor People Become Rich

Tom Corley boats - crop

In my Rich Habits Study, 41% of the self-made millionaires I interviewed came from poverty. Conversely, 66% of the poor people I interviewed, came from poverty.

While those stats are revealing, they didn’t answer one question which has constantly plagued me –

Out of the entire population of poor people, how many actually become rich?

So I sought out some credible, third party data. In a 2013 Pew Charitable Trust Report on income mobility, I found the answer: [Read more…]

For those who follow me on social media, read my books, watch, read or listen to my media interviews, you know there are habits that can make you rich and habits that can make you poor.

But did you also know that your daily habits can have a profound effect on how long you live? [Read more…]

67% of Americans Have No Life Plan

Tom Corley boats - crop

According to a November, 2017 survey of 1,000 Americans by DHM Research, only 33% of Americans have a life plan.

Why is this significant?

According to my research, having a life plan, dramatically improves your chances of becoming rich.

In fact, 82% of the self-made millionaires in my study had a life plan.

Those self-made millionaires created their life plan through a process I call Dream-Setting. [Read more…]

Knowledge is Wealth

Three police cars, with their lights still flashing, were positioned on the street in front of JC Jobs house.

JC was one of the most famous residents in Manasquan, New Jersey. A giant of a man, whose books sold hundreds of millions of copies around the world. His books helped transform the lives of millions. He advised presidents, other world leaders, CEOs, hundreds of thousands of high school and college students, and through his Rich Habits training, he helped rehabilitate tens of thousands of prisoners around the world.

JC stood outside his house talking to the police officers. Neighbors began to gather around the perimeter of his house anxious, curious.

It was early dawn on a summer’s day, the sun just beginning its slow decent. JC’s house had been robbed. The thieves had ransacked JC’s house. Big screen TV’s and other electronics, along with some valuable furniture and fixtures were taken, yet JC was smiling as he went down the list of the items that were stolen.

One of the officers thought JC’s jovial demeanor, strikingly odd.

“Excuse me Mr. Jobs, but I find it a little peculiar that you’re smiling, rather than upset. You’ve just lost tens of thousands of dollars in personal effects, yet here you are smiling at us.”

JC paused for a moment before he responded to the young police officer.

“Oh they got what they came for,” JC said. “But, thankfully, they left behind the most valuable asset I owned.”

The young police officer cocked his head to the side and asked JC what that might be. JC bobbed his head in the direction of the house and the officers all followed JC into the house, through the hallway and to the back, into JC’s study.

There sat JC’s desk and all around the perimeter of the study were bookshelves filled with thousands upon thousand of books. Books JC spent a lifetime accumulating.

JC pointed to the bookshelves.

“They overlooked the most valuable asset I own, my books.”

“Rare books?” Asked the young police officer.

“No, not at all. Most of these books you could find in the public library down the street,” JC responded.

“Why are they so valuable, then?” The young policeman asked.

“These particular books contain all of the knowledge you need in order to become wealthy,” JC continued.

“You see, the thieves will probably sell my stuff and get thousands of dollars for it. In a few weeks, however, they’ll be back to being poor again. Instead, had they taken these books and spent the rest of their lives reading what was inside of them, they would learn everything I learned that enable me to accumulate my wealth.”

JC shook his head. “What a shame. They missed the elephant in the room, my books. If they stole my books, that would hurt. I wouldn’t be smiling.” JC nodded to the young police officer.

The young officer nodded back.

JC thanked the police officers for their service, led them out of his house and then returned to his study. He eyed his books lovingly, grateful that his home’s most valuable assets were safe and sound.

Parents Are The Main Source of Good Habits and Bad Habits

Tom Corley boats - crop

In my travels around the country, speaking primarily to high school students about the Rich Habits and Poor Habits, I’ve noticed a trend.

Typically, eight students out of an average class of forty took me up on my offer for the free books I gave out after every talk. Those eight students seemed genuinely interested in learning about my research in order to improve their lives.

The remaining thirty-two students could care less about improving their lives through my research.

In both cases, parents were the reason why. [Read more…]

Everything You Need to Know to Succeed as an Author

Tom Corley boats - crop

Prior to writing my first book, I had never written a book before, never promoted a book before and I knew no one who did any of those things.

My journey has been the most difficult undertaking of my life. Everything I learned, I learned through the School of Hard Knocks.

But, eventually, I figured things out. I learned what to do and what not to do.

And then I sold a lot of books.

America’s First Billionaire

Tom Corley boats - crop

I love researching self-made millionaires, especially those who rise from the bottom. These individuals are unique because the circumstances of their lives are often dire and set against them, more so than the average poor person.

That’s why I’ve spent some months researching and studying the life of Cornelius Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt, or Commodore, as he was often called, was raised in Port Richmond, a primarily Dutch village on Staten Island, New York. His parents, Cornelius and Phebe Vanderbilt, came from nothing. “Low Dutch”, is what many called them.

Vanderbilt made his millions by controlling two burgeoning industries: the steamboat industry and the railroad industry.

When he died, Vanderbilt’s estate was estimated to be worth $100,000,000. That was back in 1877. In today’s dollars, that would be approximately $2.3 billion, making him the richest man in America, at the time.

But, in the early 1830’s there were many very talented people who were building a prosperous nation. So, what made Vanderbilt so unique?

Cornelius Vanderbilt possessed many of the Rich Habits: [Read more…]
