You Deserve a Life Filled With Abundance

You Deserve a Life Filled With Abundance!

Every time I tell someone the title of my book they’re curious. That’s because “Strategies for Cats” is a metaphor. Yes, it is a story about “Kitty”, a homeless cat who receives a life filled with abundance, and I guess I could have used a person instead of my cat, but you may not fall in love with her like a lot of readers already have.

When I talk with experts about my topic, I listen to hear if the lessons I teach through the story are accurate. My core inspiration is Think and Grow Rich (Hill, 1937), and the subtitles fit my desire for you! “Change the way you think” so you can “receive the abundance you deserve.” But recently I had a conversation with a coaching expert and I was told, “I never use the word abundance”.

Did I made a mistake? Was I using the word the wrong way?  Should have used another word like “wealth” or “joy” or “riches”? I was confused.

Abundance is defined as “a very large quantity of something”. I like that. Abundance can also be defined as “the opposite of scarcities”. When you meet “Negative Nancy” in my book, she is all about “lack and scarcity”. The more you get to know her, the more you want to avoid her (Strategy #7, Stay Away from Negative Cats!) Now the word takes on a better meaning.

“Receive the abundance you deserve”. What’s wrong with that? Well…it gets down to a few decisions, and decisions are made in your conscious mind (Strategy #11, Make a Decision). The first one is to decide you want a life filled with abundance, then make a bigger decision.

Decide exactly what you want.

Wait a minute! Maybe the coach is right. Maybe the coach believes the word “abundance” is vague, like you’re wishing and hoping for something imaginary. You don’t know what it is, you just know you deserve it, whatever it is. Right? And when you don’t get it (because you don’t know what it is), you’re disappointed, you stop believing, and you continue your life without change.

What should be crystal clear in your mind is exactly what you want and when you expect it to happen. Chapter 2, “Desire”, in Think and Grow Rich (Hill, 1937) lays this out beautifully, and it’s exactly what Kitty does in the story.

Some people are exceptionally visionary with their expectations. They have the ability to define what they want, believe what they want has already happened, and now it’s just materializing into their physical life (like a seed buried in the ground). It’s what happened with Kitty when The Voice (her subconscious mind) fulfilled her wish to have a name. She didn’t know what her name was yet, but because of her faith in herself (and The Voice), she knew she had one. And of course, at the end of the story when she hears it for the first time, her dream, her desire, her wish, it all comes together. Very heartwarming!

The final decision you need to make is about the word “deserve”. Are you worthy? Or do you believe you get what life gives you and wish for the best? The answer is inside of you, and your willingness to make one more decision: Do you deserve it?

As The Voice says over and over in our story, the answer is “YES”. So do what the movie “The Secret” (Byrne, 2006) tells you to do:  “Ask…believe…receive.” After all, you deserve a life filled with abundance!
